Pedal for Hope a Huge Succes at NDHS

Yesterday the Norwood District High School Track and Field team travelled to St. Peter's Secondary School in Peterborough to compete at the Kawartha Track and Field Championships.  Our athletes competed against some of the best athletes from Peterborough, Lindsay, Haliburton, Cobourg, Port Hope, Campbellford, Lakefield and Fenelon Falls.  With the top 8 qualifying for next weeks' COSSA event in Belleville your Knights qualified 22 athletes in 37 events.  Congratulations goes out to the following:

8th Place
Christian LaChapelle - 1500 metre

Placing 1st and Kawartha Champions
Alex Barrett in a thrilling Midget Boys 200 m final tying for first with a time of 26.20 seconds.
Gin McGriskin with a toss of 29.29 metres won the Senior Girls Javelin.
Michael Burtt destroyed the competition in the Midget Boys Long Jump by 70 cm with a jump of 5.30 metres.
Michael Burtt dominated the Midget Boys 400 metre with a time of 58.60 seconds.
Travis Bennett showing amazing improvement from last year.  After not qualifying in the javelin event in grade 9 he demonstrated good old fashion Knight determination by winning the Junior Boys Javelin  competition with a toss of over 38 metres.

Congratulations goes out to every Norwood Knight athlete that competed yesterday.  Your coaches are very proud.
Finally, a big thank-you goes out to Mr.  Hayton, Mr. Begg, Kate Oliver, Rachael Crowley, Tianna Lycett and Ashley Baird for all their work running a flawless Javelin competition.  Well done.
